* A light mist falling on my drive over near Alliance Airport this morning. 67 degrees.
* What a weekend. Where to start?
* Wednesday when we arrived at the campground the temps were in the 70s and the south wind was blowing hard. By 6pm the cold front had hit and the wind was howling out of the north with gusts to 40mph. The temperature fell 40 degrees overnight.
* Thursday morning was cool and the temperature was manageable with a coat. By Thursday afternoon it was very nice and by nightfall it was just right with the campfire going.
* Friday morning there was ice in the wash bowls we left on the smoker, but by noon it was warm and sunny.
* Friday night W-spouse, Cuz and I left to go to the Senior night recognition at the football game. We missed the race so I didn't get to witness the Kyle Busch spectacle first hand, but after the football game I went home and watched it on TV. It was the most blatant act of stupid that I ever watched during a race. He intentionally, under a yellow flag, tried to injure another driver. The aftermath was more than I think he could have ever imagined. He was parked as a driver for the weekend. He sat out both the Nationwide race and the Sprint cup race. The last of which took him completely out of contention for a run at the championship. At the time of the incident on Friday night he was still mathematically capable of winning the top prize. Then on Monday NASCAR handed down a $50,000 fine and put him on probation until December 31, 2011 with the stipulation that if he were to be involved in any other situation similar to this one, he would be suspended indefinitely. That is a bold statement by NASCAR.
* My last point on the Kyle Busch incident. I still think Kyle is a great driver, possibly one of the best drivers in NASCAR right now. His ability to handle a race car during the most tense moments of a race, and his ability to drive a very loose race car on ANY track at ANY time, is where I find the basis for that statement. BUT....and I am so tired of saying "BUT", Kyle Busch needs to have his emotions in check to ever become a champion in NASCAR. I won't defend him any further after today. If Kyle proves to the NASCAR world that he can get in control of his mind before, during, and after every race, all season long, then I will return to defending his actions and root for him to become a champion. For now, I rest on the point that he is pretty much a worthless kid with the morals of a noodle.
* Sunday found us over at the track early at the No Limits Garage Party. There were all sorts of things going on to keep you entertained and to spend your money on. Trapeze artists doing their thing on top of the garage. Bull riding set up between the garages, where we saw Kyle Petty ride a bull, albeit a very short 1 second ride. Pig racing. Yep....Pig racing. And a 70s hits band that flat out rocked the place. When we finally made our way to our seats in the grandstands, where we got to see our driver Tony Stewart get introduced and ride by in the back of the pickup. After the prayer and National anthem it was race time. The Nationwide race on Saturday was boring, but the Sprint cup on Sunday was anything but that. There was side by side racing all day and at the end, Tony Stewart drove across the finish line first. The first time we got to see our driver win at Texas. It wasn't his first win there, he won another time driving the #20 Home Depot car there one year that I didn't attend. After the race we got to attend the champagne toast upstairs on the 9th floor of the Speedway Club where Tony made an appearance. He stayed for about 30 minutes and answered questions and harassed some Dale Jr fans that were attending. I got to shake his hand and briefly speak to him and I was thankful for that. I will never forget that moment. He was very excited about the win, as we all were. His fourth win in the Chase. Right now his car is the best out there. Right now he's the best driver out there. There are two more races to go and if he can maintain this momentum, he will win the Championship.
* We finally made our way back to camp around 10pm Sunday night. We started packing a few things for our return home. W-spouse went home because she needed to get up early and go to work on Monday. I took her to her pickup out in the parking lot and made my way back through the traffic to the campground. I went to bed before 11pm and went to sleep after receiving a text from her that she had made it home safe. I was awaken to the sound of a party around 3:30am and stepped outside to see some of group still going strong. I snuck back inside and went back to sleep.
* I got up Monday morning and helped everyone break camp and get all the company gear packed back up. After they all hit the road I started packing our camper and preparing for the trip home. I made it home around noon and unpacked everything and finally got to sit down last night around 6pm.
* I'm back at work this morning. It's time to get out but I have a few more points (negative) about our experience this weekend. I saw where RPM over at the South 40
had some of the same issues we did.
* Have a great day, see ya Around The Corner!

Have you washed your hand yet after shaking with TS?
Two more wins should shake things up. Can't wait to see him drafting with Danica next year.
