From The Corner Of My Mind

* We all met in one of the lobbies at 8:00 yesterday and were on our way to the Mayan Jungle Adventure. It was a 15 minute ride from our resort to the gate entrance. The driver got out and unlocked the gate and we proceeded down a winding road, maybe 3-4 miles into a deep jungle canopy. The road was very narrow and winded around so many turns that I completely lost all sense of direction. Ten minutes later we arrived at our destination. We were participating in 3 things. Snorkeling in an underground river, entering through a "Cenote". Google the definition. Rappelling off of a tower, and zip lining through the jungle. It was determined that we would snorkel first, so we got stored all our things we took with us and were given all the gear we needed and headed down a long trail through the jungle. A short hike later we arrived at the huge entrance to the Cenote and down some stairs into the most beautiful crystal clear water you could imagine. After a brief talk from our guide we got to spend about 20 minutes snorkeling in the underground cave. More pictures and video on this when we get home. Next we were given all the gear we needed for the repel. Then we climbed a 100' tower, via a winding staircase. Another brief talk about what and how to repel. I was first because I had the camera and could video everyone else. When I backed off that ledge 70' in the air, I admit I was nervous, but just did what they instructed me to do and enjoyed a good time repelling off the tower. Next up was W-spouse and W-stepson. Cole came right down, but we all looked up and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. W-stepson went back up the tower to help calm her down, but on his way up the tower she leaned out over the edge and repelled the whole way. I would never have dreamed that she would have done it, but she did and we were all proud of her. W-stepson repelled twice more. He loved it. Next we climbed another tower and listened to another short briefing on how to zip line. Again, I went first because I had the camera. I jumped off and zipped over 500' to the next tower followed by everyone else. Then we went down another zip line, this time over 700'. Then the third line was 1220' and it was awesome. We then headed back to base camp and had a wonderful lunch in a screened in patio area. Grilled chicken, rice and beans, potatoes, guacamole, tortillas and a few other things. We were back at our resort by 1:30pm. We all split up and the boys went and hung out at the pool and then headed back to their room for a much needed map because they said they didn't get in till 4:30am the morning before, and W-spouse and I went to the beach, and huge pool at the swim up bar. Later we all met back up for dinner at an Italian restaurant. It was another fabulous day in Mexico. Today we go to Xel Ha. You can Google that also because I'm running up my Internet plan typing this. * So far none of us are miserably sunburned. I have a few tender places because I hate wearing sunscreen, and today sunscreen is forbidden unless it is the bio friendly type. We will have to purchase some when we arrive at the excursion. * Have a great day, and see ya Around The Corner!
