* It's another beautiful Wednesday morning. Temps in the upper 50s as I drove to work.
* The Bridgeport OHV Park is going to have a night run this weekend. I plan on being there Saturday night for a while. Probably not all night, Because I'm to old to stay up all night anymore.
* The plans for my birthday party have changed. Instead of meeting in Ft Worth we will be having it in Decatur. The venue should be finalized by this evening. I hope. We have booked The Cody Robbins Band. It should be a lot of fun for everyone, and it will be closer to home.
* The band that was supposed to be playing at the venue we had picked out changed their plans and were not going to be there. When I looked at the website yesterday I text W-spouse and said "WTH". She was as confused as I was and both of us went in to panic mode. I did for sure. After numerous calls, we found out that they had indeed changed.
* By 6pm I had contacted a few friends and had gotten some ideas. I searched Google for a local band and TCRB showed up. I had heard the name on 95.9 The Ranch, but couldn't remember their music. I listened to a few of their songs on the internet, and liked them. I found a contact number on their website and called it. Within a few minutes, Cody had called me back. We chatted for a while and he informed me that he was booked up that night. With some monetary encouragement, he changed his mind and is playing for us that night. I had called a few people that know him and have heard them play and they all agreed he was good. Hopefully, this will all work out!
* After I won the drawing that I told you about, I have forgotten to even check this last Saturdays numbers.
* She still hasn't spoken to me. We did exchange a text, but that is all. Keep praying.
* There was an article in the AARP that my mother copied and sent to me about estranged children. It was a well written article and very informative. This is a quote from the article: "Parents in this predicament are generally bewildered, sad and guilt-ridden. They spend time working to "fix it" and eventually try to accept their child's emotional distance."
* "Eventually try to accept" is were I'm at I suppose. I'm also bewildered, sad and riddled with guilt for standing my ground and being a parent. Not the easiest damned thing in the world.
* I've been griping about this Toshiba laptop for over a year. I need a new laptop.
* I received this for my birthday. I have always wanted one.
* Time to get to work, see ya Around The Corner!

The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.

Glad you got what you wanted for an early birthday present. Plans for party are good & probably a lot easier to get to. Sorry to learn about the estrangement, but know you have done everything you could. Mo
1) The Cody Robbins Band is really good, I am pretty confident that you wont be disappointed.
2) I hope things get worked out between you and her.
3) That chop saw would have come in handy for DTB i bet.
Hey Will, It CAME in handy. I bought it two weeks ago. :-)

i'm so sorry that you and your daughter are estranged right now...
i didn't speak to my mother and other family members for about 10 years. there are many reasons for this and i'm sure none of those reasons are even similar to your situation... but... my point here...
after 10 years, my stepfather contacted me and let me know that my mom wanted to talk to me and would i be willing to listen to her. of course i would. that is sort of what i had been waiting for. anyhow.... my mother asked if we could start over... as adults... clean slate and no need to hash over the past (mostly that is because of what they did to me and she knew it)...
long story short - things are good. 10 years was lost but in many ways we are much better now...stronger bond, family, friends... and she understands some things now that she wasn't willing to "see" or address way back when...
i'm more than happy to tell you the whole story, just not here...:)
she'll be back. she will. as long as she knows you are there, loving her, willing to accept her no matter what with open arms. she will be back. i promise.
Sorry about the daughter thing I have 6 kids 4 of whom do not speak to me at this time for-what-ever reasons they only know. I have tried but it gets me no where at all so I have made up my mind that I need to just pray a lot. Good luck with yours.
Nice chop saw! I have an el cheapo HFT model that works OK for metal studs and rebar, but would probably not hold up to serious use.
Was headed NW today - almost turned left at the Shell to eyeball the DTB, but figured the pics pretty much told the story.
Hope you have a great party!
Party, party, party! Hope there is one more chair available at this venue since my daughter in law will be in town too. Also, glad it is closer to home. Not far to drive.
Still in the contemplating stage for a birthday gift. It HAS to be good!!!
You know I pray daily for you guys. I understand your stand and stand behind you for it. Things will work out in the way God chooses. Love you bunches!!

By the way, missed your blog yesterday!
Estrangements are difficult & uncomfortable, but you've done the right thing. IMO I hope she comes 'round...because I know how much her Dad LOVES her.....
It's obvious this estrangement is pretty tough on you. I'm so sorry. A text is a good sign, right? Praying for the restoration of this relationship.
