The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.

From The Corner Of My Mind - Memorial Day Weekend Edition

"It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the veteran, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the veteran, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote."

* This weekend we will be celebrating Memorial Day weekend. On Monday specifically, please remember those that fought and died to give you those very freedoms mentioned above.
* Yesterday evening we went to the awards ceremony for the seniors at the high school auditorium. We had received a letter from the school informing us to be there because W-stepson was getting an award or was going to be recognized. The Staff Sgt from the recruiting center was there to recognize our son and another senior for joining the US Army. As he called out their names, and they started to walk onstage, the crowd all stood and gave them a standing ovation. That was very nice moment and we felt very proud for him.
* When I got home yesterday, there were a few of seniors over at the house visiting. One of them is girl who I have known her mother and father for many years. I served on the BVFD with her dad over there and he still continues to volunteer today. I remember when she was born. I remember her parents even before she was born. I remember buying cookie dough and other fundraising items from her as a child. She knew she could always look up at me with that smile and I would open my wallet. Now here is this vibrant, successful teenager graduating from high school and hanging out at our house. Time. Slow. Down.
* Two years ago today we were making final preparations for my oldest daughters wedding. Time. Slow. Down.
* My next door neighbors wife saw our backyard after we got finished with the sprinklers and the grass, and decided that they needed to upgrade their backyard. He has been installing the sprinklers all week and yesterday he and some friends of his laid  two pallets of grass. I bet he's not real happy with me right now. The backyard looks great though and it will be a wonderful place for their two small children to play.
* Their son loves Sophie and he comes and gets her nearly every evening to play. We like for him to take her out because it exercises her and she gets rid of all that puppy energy. She then usually sleeps all night without getting up wanting to play in the middle of the night.
* Have a good weekend, see ya Around The Corner!

Thanks for the comments about veterans from one who served in the Korean " Police Action."

You should be proud of him!

I had forgotten that puppies can't make it through the night without going outside to do their business until the first night Hallie woke me up to go. Good thing I've had lots of practice not sleeping! :)

This weekend we celebrate our little boy's first birthday. I can't even think about graduation... where did the last year go?
