* My daughter wants this to be my last NASCAR related post till the new season starts in February, but I don't know if that's possible.
* The race yesterday was possibly the best race I have ever watched in NASCAR. No one could have scripted a better race all day. From the drop of the green flag Carl Edwards was ahead. He sat on the pole and led the first lap grabbing an extra point. Kurt Busch blew a shifter box on lap two and it seems Tony took a piece of debris through the radiator grill. After a few pit stops under caution, repairs were made and Tony had to restart at the back of the pack. He did that twice during the race. He also had two horrible pit stops due to lug nut issues and lost positions. A brief rain shower early caused a caution, an hour and a half rain delay in the middle of the race and another brief shower late caused the cautions to come out again. Waiting to pit under green last and staying out till he nearly ran out of gas, he made his last pit stop under green. From there his team thought they had enough fuel to make it to the end and no one else did. When the yellow came our for the last rain shower it caused all the leaders to have to pit, putting Tony right back near the front. He kept the lead all the way to the checkered flag.
* Carl Edwards drove the heck out of that Ford trying to run Tony down and could never do it. With 3 Ford engines giving it up during the middle of the race, Carl was worried whether his engine would even make the end of the race.
* While celebrating on stage after the race, ESPN was trying to get Tony to turn around and accept the Trophy. It seemed like he was ignoring them while holding his crew chiefs child in his arms. He was in a deep conversation with Darian Grubb. It also seemed to me that after the race Darian seemed upset, but I didn't understand if it was just the excitement of winning the championship or something else. It has been reported that during the post race press conference, Darian announce that Tony had told him prior to the start of the Chase that major changes would be needed on this team. It seems Darian will be replaced as crew chief next year.
* It is also being reported that Chad Knaus will be replaced as crew chief for the #48 car of Jimmy Johnson. In my opinion, unless Chad quits, I don't see that happening.
* Other news, when Kurt (NOT KYLE) Busch was taking his car behind the wall for repairs he was caught on the in car camera shooting the finger at someone. That fine is going to hurt.
* In April we will have to replace our flags and shirts. Now they will read 2011 Champion Tony Stewart.
* We have bragging rights for a year.
* My sister and brother in law, along with the cousin from down south that wears a badge and carries a gun, came and watched the race with us yesterday. It was a great surprise to have my cousin here and after the race he hauled butt back to Houston. I think he might be getting hooked on NASCAR.
* In two weeks all of the drivers and teams will be in Las Vegas for Championship week and the crowning of a champion.
* Thanks for following along all year. Thanks for your input and opinions. I read them all and post most of them. The only ones that I don't post are the ones where you are slanderous towards my family. I enjoy the conversation and I love it when you are for the "other team", it makes for some interesting topics and good fun.
* In less than 90 days we will be racing again......I'm excited already!!
* As I walked through the kitchen I saw on the TV where the Redskins had just tied up the football game with seconds left on the clock. The next time I went through I watched the Cowboys kick a field goal in overtime to win the game.
* I suppose now I will have to start watching Cowboys games again. Blehhhh
* Say hello to Monday, see ya Around The Corner!

I'm a Smoke fan not only due to his racing but because he is one of the most active sport figures in charitable activities.
Again, CE showed class in what had to be a heart breaker. Tony just kept overcoming.
I never watch an entire race but the last 37 laps was nothing but adrenaline. ( I also love the National Anthem and the fly-over)
While NASCAR is in a lull there is always Ice Dancing!

3 1/2 hours.....that's all I'm saying LOL
Had a blast watching the race and I still say that Edwards and Tony are class acts. Through all this they still goofed around with each other and kept it clean. There is a few other drivers that could take a lesson. And hell yeah I'm hooked I plan being at all of them in Texas next year.
Had fun Cuz brought back reminders of the old Cowboy game days LOL
I was out in the field planting oats trying to beat the rain, but I did come in to watch the last 50 laps. I have the whole race DVR'ed and will watch it later.
Tony WAS ignoring ESPN and Mike Helton on purpose. I'm not sure that's who NASCAR wanted to win because there's no way they can shut him up now and Tony knows it (as displayed on stage). I can't wait to hear his speech in Vegas.
