From The Corner Of My Mind

* It's going to be over 100 degrees all week with a hot wind blowing through the hills.
* I'm able to blog this morning because I'm waiting on a phone call for instructions on how to proceed today.
* Yesterday W-spouse and I went to church and bible class. After church we made our way to Ft Worth for lunch at BJs Brewhouse. I had the Shrimp Scampi with unsweet tea and W-spouse had a Turkey Club with a homeade Root Beer. While we were there, womens soccer was on the big screen and we watched the USA womens team win.
* I don't understand soccer. They do run around a lot and throw flags up and down. What's up with not being able to grab the ball with your hands? It's a ball, grab it and run with it. Or throw it. I'm all confused.
* From there we made our way over to Toys R Us, where I may have let things get our of hand. Let me back up a little bit. Saturday night when I got off work, W-baby momma surprised me by bringing Madison over for me and W-spouse to play with for a while. While she was there I came to the conclusion that we needed more toys at our house. So that is how we ended up at Toys R Us on Sunday.
* When we checked out, we had two buggies full of toys and one cart that had a few items on it. We scored big on a couple of Christmas presents because they were on sale for nearly half off, so we went ahead and purchased them. We also picked up a birthday present for Ava Grace from Granny D while we were there.
* When we got home Madison came over and played with the new toys and later on, Ava Grace came over and played with everything. The new toys were a hit, especially the tunnel/playhouse/fort that has all the little balls you jump in. Madison is just now starting to scoot around so she wasn't so sure about it, but Ava loved it and crawled through it many times.
* I like Toys R Us.
* Thursday night Kyle Busch won the CWTS race at Kentucky Motor Speedway. It was an exciting race and Kyle stayed out of trouble and was in a good position to be up front towards the end.
* Friday night Brad Keselowski won the Nationwide race. He did so by running smart and conserving fuel for the last 70 laps. No one, including him or his crew chief thought he could make it. At one point he was 30 seconds ahead of the second place car. By the end of the race, because he was shutting his engine off and back on, he was only 2 seconds ahead. Kevin Harvick was very mad at his crew chief and his crew for not putting him in the same position to win. If you want to see Kevin Harvick at his finest, listen to the post race audio after the race on Friday night or watch it on Youtube. He was rude and condesending to the media and made an ass out his self. That is the main reason I despise him so much. Sure, you can say others act the same way. I can also say that I don't care much for them either, including Tony Stewart when that happens.
* The Nascar Sprint cup race on Saturday night was fast and slick. Pretty much all green flag racing till the end. Fuel strategy was a concern, but because of a few late yellow flags it became a non issue. Kyle Busch again was fast and put himself in a position with perfect pit stops and good driving on the last 2 restarts overcoming a hard push by Jimmy Johnson and David Ruetimann to win by 5 car lengths. A sprint cup win for Kyle Bush? To my Anon poster/Kyle Busch hater....could this be the win that sets him on the path for that championship? Is there any other driver as consistent as he is in all three divisions? Is there any other driver RIGHT NOW driving with such ferocity or consistency as he is?
* No, I don't crown him the next champion, but I will say that he is the next Wonder Boy (Jeff Gordon reference).
* I remember the Inaugural race at Texas Motor Speedway. Rain, traffic nightmares, lack of available parking and restroom facilities made it a harrowing first experience. This past weekend was the first Sprint Cup race at Kentucky and from all indications it was way worse than TMS ever was. There are reports coming from there of people setting in traffic for 8 hours. No place to go to the bathroom. Nothing to eat or drink. There is only on exit off the interstate to get to the speedway and traffic was backed up for hours. They ran out of available parking and turned people away from the track even after the race had began. A caller this morning on Sirius was saying that he lived 27 miles from the track and had left 6 hours before the race and never made it. Bruton Smith(track owner) had made a comment in the media room on Saturday that they may not get everyone out of there before Tuesday. I bet that people don't think that was very funny now.
* Time for some work, see ya Around The Corner!

I don't like Kyle, but when he controls himself I think he is the most tallented driver out there. This may be his best chance at a championship -- before they shuffle the points cards again.

Regarding the parking and traffic situation -- that would run me off real fast.

I have a question for your readers. What concerns you the most? Congress not enacting a governmental fiance bill that could mean huge financial implications or the NFL lockout? Both have to be done in the next 8-10 days or big problems for the economy on one hand or missing football games on the other?
