From The Corner Of My Mind - Guadalupe River Edition

* 7:00 am on the banks of the river. A gentle rain is falling this morning. It hasn't rained here in a long time. Things around here are dry, about as dry and dusty as August in our part of the State.
* We got word that another storm moved through Wise county last night. How much rain did we get in Decatur? High winds again? Damage?
* W-spouse fixed a huge breakfast yesterday for everyone. W-daughter wanted to eat out on the deck over the river, so we loaded our plates and did just that. W-daughter #2 and I made a mad dash to the local country store because we had forgotten to bring jelly. It was a great way to start the day.
* After breakfast, Granny D, W-daughters, Catie and I loaded up and went in to Gruene to browse the shops and have another wine tasting.
* After that we all loaded up and went in to town where the Rockin R hooked us up with some tubes to float the Comal. It took about two hours to make the float trip and we were all tired, so we didn't float it the second time. It's a good thing we didn't because we were all sunburned from the first trip. A few thoughts about the float trip:
1. Some people have no respect for others property. Litter was everywhere. Especially beer cans thrown on the side of the banks and in the river.
2. Some people have no respect for rules our authority. We witnessed an idiot that was near us get out and climb the walls onto private property and jump into the river numerous times. He nearly slipped and fell on his last attempt and we didn't see him do it again.
3. The person that checked us in was rude. The bus drivers were all fun and interacted with their riders, playing some good tunes and having fun on the ride to and from the river.
4. Watching a fight between people parking and one of them flashing a gun was scary.
5. Shooting the tube chutes with a cooler tube tied to your tube gets interesting.
6. Watching your 48 year old cousin go through the tube chute with both feet pointed towards heaven was hilarious. Trying to retrieve his hat wasn't.
7. Floating along with your family and having fun is great fun.
* Granny D and Papa Harold kept Madison while we floated and also had a marvelous spaghetti supper waiting for us when we got back to the cabin. Granny D and Papa Harold rock!
* Today is a free day. The girls have to head home today, along with cousin from Houston. W-stepson #1 and his family will arrive late tonight. Ava Grace is coming with them so W-spouse won't be without a grand baby for too long.
* It is my plan to just hang out and rest today. Wonder how that will work out?
* The rain outside smells so good and sounds so peaceful falling on the back porch awning. It's making me sleepy. I just saw on the news that over 2 inches has fallen here so far. Flash flood warnings are posted.
* When it rains 2 inches in Wise county it all soaks in the ground, here it all runs off.
* Maybe more later, see ya Around The Corner!

Glad y'all are having a great time. I love it down there!! When we floated the Comal a couple of weeks ago, there were 2 guys that got arrested for jumping off a tree. (There at the last turn, by the beautiful house on the poles) There was a guy that did the same jump a week before that didn't come back up. They found him a few miles down stream later that day.

We had another 2" last night here at our place, adding to the 3" we got night before last. Not sure there is a fast food sign in town that has not been damaged by now. Winds came hard from south last night.

Glad y'all are having fun. Lots of music at Gruene Hall.... just saying
