* It was dry at my house this morning. Not a drop of rain, but when I got to the 380 exit off of 287 the roads were wet.
* W-spouse has a great work ethic. She may procrastinate and be late a few minutes, a couple of days a week, but she always and without fail will work late when her superiors ask her. Which leads me to this. She was off a few days last week when we attended the races so she has worked late every day this week. Well last night she hit her wall. We went to eat and she had a cocktail with her meal. Before we could get home, she was sleepy. When we got home, she piled in to bed. This was around 7:30. Both of us had only been home less than an hour, including running to town to eat. I decided that I would also crash early, except I got interested in a "Who done it" show on TLC and watched it till after 10. This morning at 3:40 am I was wildly awaken to a dog shaking in the bed. A wet dog. Right in my face wet dog. Cold splashing water everywhere wet dog. I was like "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON"? Apparently W-spouse had had enough sleep and got up early and let the dogs outside. When they came back in she was petting the Labradoodle Sophie and she was dirty. W-spouse has found out that it's easier to climb in the shower with Sophie and giver her a bath. Except, someone is usually there to dry her off when she lets her out. This morning W-spouse forgot that part. She shut the bathroom doors, but Sophie is now big enough to just open them. So when she let her out of the shower, she pushed the doors open, jumped on the bed, tail wagging, shaking and decided it was time to play with daddy. Needless to say I didn't find any humor in this situation and 4am in the morning. W-spouse is yelling from the shower "I'm sorry, I thought I had the doors closed". I was yelling "Whatthellever". Had there been video of this scenario, it would go viral on YouTube today. I tried going back to sleep. I did, but every time I moved I found a cold wet spot on the bed. When the alarm went off after 5am W-spouse was there to immediately start rubbing my back and petting on me in a very apologetic way. She better be glad she did.
* Anyone laughing about that at this moment can bite me.
* Sophie, by the way, is now 5 months old and as tall as a Standard Poodle. She isn't quite as heavy as her Labrador mother yet, but when she jumps on the bed it feels like an airplane has landed.
* When we picked Sophie out, she was the least social of the two pups that were left in the litter. I actually wanted the other one, but W-stepson and W-spouse wanted Sophie. She is now very active and just loves everyone. She will chase a ball when you throw it across the yard until your arm gets tired or until she finally passes out. She has learned to sit and shake. She has a bad habit of jumping up on people when she first greets them and we are trying to break her of that. She is responding well to commands and knows when you tell her "NO".
* Her hair is getting long and this weekend we are going to get her cut. Kanine Academy doesn't groom big dogs so we are trying to get an appointment at Pet Smart in Denton tomorrow.
* When she wants to be petted and have her back rubbed, she has learned to nuzzle her nose under your hand. If you ignore her she will nibble at your hand until you pet her.
* I now have officially fallen in love with another dog.
* I have had Archie for 16 years this summer. His days with us are growing short. All he does is sleep. He seems to be in great health, other than the fact that he can't see or hear anything. In his earlier days, when a storm would be coming he would start shaking violently till the storm passed. He now can't hear them and sleeps right through the thunder and lightning.
* For those of you that have inquired about the back yard and the new grass. It has taken hold and started to grow. All of the seams have nearly covered over and the few brown squares that were on top of the pallets have nearly covered in new growth. I will call the nursery today and ask about fertilizer and when I need to apply it.
* Click on our Church link over on the right to see the new webpage. Come visit if you want, we would love to have you there this Sunday Morning!
* Oh yeah, lest I forget. I want to get this or this for the grand kids this weekend!
* Time to get out and get to work, see ya Around The Corner!

Oh Daddy, you know you like to play!
Thanks for my first laugh of the day. Mo
all that was funny would have love to have been a spider on the wall.HEHE say goodbye grass when you put that toy in your back yard.
Lol on the wet dog. That's funny!! My poor 10yo wants a swingset, fort, playhouse, anything so bad, but poor mom, single mom of 3 here, can't and hasn't been able to afford one. (let alone assemble one!!) Want to adopt him in as one of your grandkids??!!! He has no granddad or a dad for that matter!! ;)
Seriously... If you are considering a trip South you need to give Barnacle Bill's a serious once over. You won't find a more beautiful place to stay.
Bill, Adriane and Scurvy are THE World's greatest hosts!
No TV, no radio, no A/C.... because you don't need it! (They do have high speed internet so it's not completely off the grid)
BTW, the official language in Belize is English.
I'm sorry, but that is too funny!! Thanks for the laugh at the expense of a wetdog!!
I sure wished I would have read that earlier in the day. Maybe my day would not have been so yucky if I had that laugh earlier.
I love Archie!! Just sayin'. Kisses.
