* Another beautiful spring morning. The weather wasn't this pretty at the races last week.
* W-spouse and I are researching our vacation options for the summer. We have decided to go back to Mexico. Late June or Mid July is when we are shooting for. When we narrow down the resort, we can set the date and place the deposit.
* We have checked all the International warnings and nothing is posted for the Yucatan Peninsula.
* My vote was a week in the Rockies in the Jeep, but it wasn't even considered.
* But after careful consideration, I got to thinking...."Hot chicks in bikinis on the beach in Mexico" or "Old farts riding around in Jeeps in the mountains". It was a no brainer!
* W-spouse also has made reservations for a room at Shady Oaks BBQ in Ft Worth for my 50th birthday celebration. The room only seats 75 people and narrowing down that guest list has been one of the most stressful things her and I have done in a while. Our immediate family alone takes up more than half of that list.
* The 3 Fools On 3 Stools will be playing there that night. They always wear Hawaiian shirts and Cowboy hats. So we have decided that the men are going to wear Hawaiian shirts and shorts, flip flops and Cowboy hats. The women can wear traditional Hawaiian clothing or casual attire.
* I heard some very exciting news yesterday that I will share with you when I can in the next few weeks.
* One of the oldest living Wise County residents passed away this week. Agnes Carpenter was 99 years old when she passed away earlier in the week. Her funeral is today. Some of my oldest memories involves her and the church she attended for many years. I remember going to Vacation Bible school there and her teaching us when I was maybe 8-10 years old.
* Her family and my family have been very close over the years and have shared many memories together. When my grand parents were alive, I remember that my grand father would have a host of friends and family over to the house nearly every week and everyone would bring homemade ice cream. I can vividly remember sitting in front of her in church and hearing her sing the old hymns at church. I worked for one of her sons and grand sons for a few years. I remember my grandfather repairing her lawn mower and when we delivered it to her, he made us mow the yard to make sure that the mower worked properly. She had a dress shop, I never remember going in there, but I remember seeing them through the windows. One of her grand sons tragically drowned in Lake Bridgeport and I helped search and recover his body. So many memories, some good, some bad.
* There are times when we moan and complain about having to get up and drive a few miles to church on Sunday mornings. She rode in a wagon many times on Sunday morning to get to church. From Bridgeport to Pleasant View Church. A distance of about 5-6 miles. In the rain, cold and hot weather, always and forever dedicated to her God and church.
* Will I live for 99 years? If I do, I have 49 more to go. Reflecting back on her life and the many lives she touched, I can only hope and pray that I will be as good as an example in Gods eyes as she was.
* It was good seeing the comment from the Corpus Christi folks that checked in yesterday. We hope to see ya soon.
* Thanks for checking in today, see ya Around The Corner!

The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.
