* Over here near Justin, it rained a lot. Don't know an exact rain total, but it was a whole lot more than around Decatur.
* All the creeks and ditches were bank full yesterday.
* For those of you that don't know "Country" talk. Bank full doesn't mean as full as a Bank full of money, it means that the creeks and ditches were nearly full to the top of the sides. Also known as the bank of a creek.
* Or it could mean full as Bank full of money. I really don't know. I was trying to impress you with my high intelligence.
* W-son in law Deven got to come home from the hospital yesterday. He was diagnosed with bronchitis. That, his asthma, and all the pollen in the air are a lethal combo for him.
* NASCAR TALK: The final appeal for the Jimmy Johnson/Chad Knaus illegal car at Daytona were heard yesterday. NASCAR lost. The team was/were given back all their points and the crew chief (Chad Knaus) and car chief were given their spots back. The $100,000 fine was still in play, with Chad Knaus remaining on probation till mid May.
* I disagree.
* The legitimacy of NASCAR has been tarnished with this judgement.
* #1. If the fines are still in play, why? If something was illegal, why give them back the points and crew/car chiefs?
#2. Rick Hendrick (owns a Chevy dealership). The final appellate officer (John Middlebrook) worked for Chevy many years at the top levels.
#3. Rick Hendrick and John Middlebrook have been friends for many years.
#4. NO EXPLANATION has been given, either by NASCAR or John Middlebrook for the decision.
* This just looks real fishy for our sport. Like the old saying, if it smells like a fish, looks like a fish and acts like a fish. It's usually a fish.
* The #48 team won 5 championships in a row. I never questioned the legitimacy of those wins. I now do.
* For those of you following along, I am now in third place in the NASCAR fantasy league. My cousin is in 1st, his wife in 2nd and I'm in 3rd. W-spouse is in 19th.
* That smells as fishy as the scenario above.
* Well the kitchen renovation has begun. Yesterday I was home early due to the rig breaking down, so I went to Lowes and purchased 6 of these. I first removed the existing fluorescent lighting and the custom enclosure, then we measured for the new install. We then discovered that we were going to have to have the recessed domes for the style lights we bought. Back to Lowes. Returning home, we begin cutting all the round holes in the ceiling and installing. I then climbed in to the attic and wired them all in. W-spouse turned them on and they all worked........but one. While I was still in the attic, she took the inner light back out and checked the connection. It was loose. She reinserted it and tried it again. They all worked.
* If you have a low light situation in any room in your house. These lights put out twice as much light for half the price and half the amp draw.
* We had concerns whether we were going to need eight of them or six. Six was more than enough to light up our whole kitchen and much more.
* Next up. There is a half wall between our dining room and kitchen area. We have determined it not to be a load bearing wall, so we are going to remove it back to where it only will enclose the refrigerator, thus opening up the kitchen/dining room area. One problem with that is that we are having trouble finding the three 16"x16" matching tiles that will need to be replaced when we remove the wall.
* They are supposed to start replacing the counter tops this week. We are going to have a huge amount of left over remnants left, so we have decided to use that to replace the two sinks and counter tops in the spare bathroom. It was added into the bid and we were satisfied enough with the price to go ahead and have them do it.
* W-spouse has already purchased the back splash tile and tile design she wants for the area behind the stove top.
* W-spouse is all giddy and I'm already tired of the renovation. I'm so sore this morning that I can barely move. I will say this about her, while I was in the attic wiring the lights in, she cleaned up the whole area and took all the tools back to the building. She is a great helper when it comes to projects like this. She also has a way of seeing the finished product and what it will look like when done.
* We are in a debate over something though and need YOUR help. She thinks we should go ahead and paint everything NOW. I think we should wait till all the construction is over and paint LAST. Who's right people?????
* Have a great day, see ya Around The Corner!

Paint when everything is complete..trust me, I play a Dr on TV..SC
I got to listen to a lot of SiriusXM NASCAR radio the last 2 days. There is a major conflict of interest here. Rick Hendrick was a speaker at John Middlebrook's GM retirement party. They have major buisness/personal connections. This stinks of Good 'ol Boy and will tarnish Hendrick Motorsports. The excuse of the car had been accepted before wasn't valid. You and I both know they reskin those frames between races.
spare bedroom AKA Bill's room
I don't know who is technically correct, but since there are ALWAYS touch-ups you may as well concede this point to the spouse, make her happy then when the project is done go back and re-touch. Construction does have a tendency to mess up new paint, but as you well know a happy wife = a happy life. :)
Think I would paint now, touch up after. Know it will all be beautiful. Mo
Paint last. Then you are not re-painting anything, or stopping any dusty construction due to wet paint etc
You know she is always right!! So I don't even know why you would ask for our help.
If you paint before all the edges will probably look cleaner. But you might have touch up spots to mess with. You would probably also have to clean the walls after you are done with the renovation, to get all the dust and other debri off.
If you paint after, the only thing I can think of is having to lay drop cloths and tape a bunch of stuff to prevent splatter.
Now these are MY opinions, But again, she is always right. Just trying to help save a marriage here.
My vote is to paint after all the construction is complete. I've tried painting while things like that are going on, and it's nothing short of a nightmare. Finished product is NEVER what i could have been, had you waited.
Have a good day Nascar man
Paint now, be happy. LOL
My vote is start painting now, ceiling, dinning room, trim. But what do I know, I'm just a lowely nurse.
i have two thoughts on the painting poll....
painting before is good in that you won't get paint splashes or mishaps on the new renovations, and the paint line will be hidden behind all counters, cabinets, etc....of course there will be touch ups but there would be even if painting is done after renovations
painting after... more work - taping and draping and more cutting and all that....
good luck!! oh, you may have said but my short term memory is kicking butt... what color? just curious :)
Have someone else paint it after all of the construction is over.
I'm with 'Sailin;' and have it done while you're gone! lol I HATE renovations. Our TC house was one looooooong never ending renovation. Granted, it looked great once we finished & our house sold in 2 1/2 weeks in a sh*t market, but still.....that was such a mess. At least you don't have little kids bonking around in the plastic, taping, this & that.....

Make her paint it by herself. That way she can do it whenever she wants to.
You're welcome.
Sorry Sister in Law, but I agree with brother and paint afterward. But that is a little of my obsessive compulsive disorder coming into play. I would be crazy with touch up and fix it stuff. JMO!
If you have a break in construction then do it now otherwise wait until the end. You dont want to get dust in your brand new paint job!
