Question Of The Day

Who is your favorite author?

I really like John Grisham. W-spouse and her brother introduced me to his books about 5 years ago.

For escape I like William Johnstone westerns, plenty of action none of it politically correct. If you're into the outdoors, Patrick McManess is absolutely hysterical. You can't read any of his books without laughing until your jaws hurt.

I like Grisham too. My favorite author is Greg Iles. I also like Jodi Picoult, Anne Tyler, Bev Marshall, Lee Smith, Reynolds Price, Gail Godwin, Dennis Lehane, Alice Hoffman...

Most of those are kinda girlie.

We have everything Grisham has written except his latest. We were in the bookstore Tuesday looking for it in paperback but were told it'll be at least 6 more months.
Try Carl Hiaasen, a reporter from Miami who writes some very funny but slightly irrevrent "who done it" novels. They're funny enough to make you tear up.

In the same vain but even less PC is Kinky Friedman (yes the gubernatorial candidate and former Jew Boy). His aren't literary masterpieces but darn funny anyway.

Check the library and I think Walmart had a Hiaasen in the paperbacks.

I love C. S. Lewis....amazing man; I have everything he ever wrote. For everyday reading, I'm a sucker for a new Jodi Picoult novel....all of that "controversy," you know. ;-)

Come on Wendell, you can't pull my leg. Grisham books have no pictures. Your more of a MAD magazine kinda guy.

We have some paperbacks we'd loan you on Hiaasan and Kinky. Trust me, the Hiaasen ones are just twisted enough, to be darn funny, yet has a who done it plot

Wendell had no choice but to buy Mad Magazine when the cover had a picture of an adorable puppy with the caption "Buy this magazine or we'll kill this dog".

Brad Thor, Tom Clancy, Alexander McCall Smith, Greg Ilies and the 3 books by Steig Larsson were excellent.
