From The Corner Of My MInd

* The weather is still great. Somewhat muggy, but the temperature is just wonderful.
* Earnhardt Nation is in mourning today as the Hendrick organization released a press release announcing that Dale Jr is suffering from a concussion he received after being involved in a race ending, 25 car wreck at the end of the race on Sunday at Talladega speedway. He will miss the next race at Charlotte, and the following race at Kansas. This essentially takes him out of Chase contention, which he quite possibly had no shot at winning anyway after the incident at Talladega.
* If you know anything about NASCAR at all you know what this means to NASCAR. If you don't know, Dale Jr is the son of Dale Earnhardt, probably the most popular driver in the History of NASCAR. Dale Sr lost his life in a wreck at Daytona on February 8, 2001 and it shook NASCAR to the core. Safety measures were made after his death making it mandatory for all drivers to wear a Hans device. Dale Jr has now become the most popular driver, out selling every other driver in merchandise and securing many coveted sponsorships. I have read that you can take nearly any two other drivers and total their merchandise sales, and it still does NOT equal that of Dale Jr.
* Good news about David: The doctors removed the drain tube from his stomach late yesterday and increased the volume into his feeding tube. They removed any feeding by IV. If everything remains the same, he should be in TIRR this evening, or maybe Friday. NO later than Monday.
* Good news about W-mom: She got released from the doctor and has to do 6 weeks of rehab, three days a week. Everything has healed and looks good on the X-rays.
* W-mom and Papa Harold are packing to head to Houston. I was surprised that they didn't leave as soon as the doctors appointment was over and she found out that she was released.
* That wreck at Panda Express was bad, but not as bad as it could have been. I drove by there in the Walmart parking lot yesterday and looked at the angle that the truck had came off of the grass hillside. I don't know what kept him from going right through the Panda Express. Had that of happened, or if it had turned more left and went through the Murphy gas station, things could have been much worse and many more injuries could have occurred.
* I'm trying to make plans to go back to Houston on Sunday and stay till Tuesday.
* The W.E. Rock dirt riot will be at Northwest OHV Park near Bridgeport this weekend. Saturday is when all the action takes place, with awards being presented at 7pm Saturday evening.
