* What a difference 24 hours makes.
* Yesterday morning at this time I was wondering what you might like to read.
* An hour later I was on my hands and knees begging for the life of my best friend.
* Two hours later I was headed southbound I45 towards Houston.
* Seven hours later I was sitting at Memorial Herman in Houston waiting for my best friend to come out of surgery, and awaiting results or any news that might tell us if he was going to be paralyzed for the rest of his life.
* Twelve hours later. Still waiting.
* Fourteen hours later we get word the main surgery is over and the surgeons are closing.
* Fifteen hours later the surgeons come out and tell us the repairs of the breaks in the neck, and the opening up of the spinal cavity was a success. We're also informed that there is now way to gauge the status of paralysis at this time.
* Sixteen hours later we watch as he is wheeled by our private waiting room, towards the room where he will potentionally spend the next 7-8 days.
* Seventeen hours later I get to go stand by his side. He's wounded. He has a huge halo holding his head/neck/spine in place. My brother. My best friend. I cry uncontrollably. For the many times he's stood by me through the darkness, I can't now assist him in any way, other than standing beside the damn bed.
* Nineteen hours later, five of us, good friends, girlfriend and family finally open the door to our motel room to lie down.
* Twenty four hours later, I'm up again, writing and getting ready to return to the hospital.
* The support from the Houston Police Department has been nothing short of amazing. The brotherhood that they share is NOT known in many work environments. There have been officers present since we walked through the door. Officers were stationed at the waiting room doors all night. The HPD Chief, David's immediate Chief, his lieutenant and Seargent, and also the Mayor of Houston have all came by to visit and sit with the family. HPD reserved/furnished rooms for us and those that needed to stay overnight.
* Many of David's friends, partners that have rode with him on the force, and others have contacted me via Facebook asking for status updates. It's stunning the impact he has made on this world and the footprints he has left behind.
* To those that are praying for him, his family and me. I can't thank you enough for the prayers. I have felt the peace of God yesterday as waves of emotion swept through me as I made the five hour drive towards Houston. We all have felt the soothing hands of God as we waited for the surgery to be over. I ask you to please keep praying today, tomorrow and each day ahead that God will work his amazing healing power in David.

The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.
Some people get spiritual because they see the light and some people get spiritual because they feel the heat!
How do you know if you're truly a servant? See how you react the next time someone treats you like one.
