* Yeah, I've been a blog slacker.
* While camping at the races this time, there just was not time to blog. Seems like we ran around from the minute we got there till the time we left to come home.
* Some thoughts:
Looks like we dodged a bullet with the weather once again.
Night racing on a cool racetrack at TMS equates into a long, strung out boring race.
We waste a lot of food while camping.
Seems like when I/We get everything off the smoker, it's time to go over to the race and no one eats.
Night racing throws the schedule off.
Our driver, Tony Stewart, finished two laps down somewhere around 20th position.
I had Jeff Gordon picked in the NASCAR fantasy league this week. He started out in the back and worked his way up to a 3rd place finish, which should keep me in the top spot. Results from the league have not hit my email yet, so more later on that.
The race was boring.
We witnessed a drunk guy try to start a fight leaving the Speedway Club on Saturday night. He then got in the drivers side of a pickup loaded with people and drive off. He was reported to the Police but got away.
We got to the campground on Wednesday. Prior to that I had an email showing where all our camp spots were located. We sat up everything and then over the next two days spotted the rest of our group. Late on Friday we were made aware that I had messed up and shifted everything 4 spots over. I asked the guys that had the spots if they would mind using our four spots that were empty so that we wouldn't have to break camp and move everything. They refused. So we had to move/shift everything to the north 4 spots. It only took about 30 minutes, and everyone helped do it, but it was a huge mistake on my part and I felt/feel really bad about it.
In November, the person that pays for the spots will deal directly with me, communicating the spot numbers and placement without going through a third party.
Sprint sponsors NASCAR. While at the racetrack, ATT service is not that good. I'm wondering if Sprint blocks the service or if it is just overloaded with users? I work in that area all the time and service is normally great.
We met some new friends this year that were camping really close to us. They are from the Corpus Christi area. Tornado warnings are posted there this morning. I hope all is well.
We really enjoyed having my cousin that lives down south that carries a badge and gun camp with us. He helps out with everything when needed and always keeps the guests/party entertained.
We took the Jeep out there this week and at some point, everyone took a ride around the campgrounds in it. Needless to say, it was a big hit.
The race was boring.
Driving home in the cold rain yesterday morning pulling the smoker behind the Jeep, was NOT fun, NOR was it entertaining.
The traffic situation after the races that we had complained to management about after the last race was a lot better. We still had to go outbound onto the I35 access road to get back to the campground, but when we got back over there, at least they let us turn back in to the grounds instead of trying to divert us in to Ft Worth.
I'm already making plans for November!
* The new cars, new tire compounds, and a cool race track made some long green flag stretches. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but it seems the last caution was around lap 100 or so. The rest of the race went caution free. No wrecks, no blown engines, no debris on the track. Nothing. Just long strung out green flag racing. Now some people enjoy that. I don't. I don't want to see a wreck, but I do like to see the cars bunched up and rubbing fenders trying to gain position.
* The last two races at TMS have been that way. Remembering that Tony Stewart won because of fuel mileage in November eventually propelling him on in to the championship.
* We got home early yesterday morning and unloaded everything. We then took the smoker back to the shop and the camper back over to W-moms house. We still have to clean up the camper, but it was useless trying to do so yesterday with everything wet. We will do that later this week wen it dries up.
* W-spouse and I both got our grand baby fix yesterday also. We both had missed them.
* For those wondering and praying about it. I still haven't heard from my daughter, nor has she spoken to me.
* I love you and miss you.
* Have a great Monday, see ya Around The Corner!

Re: Daughter. It is what it is....I think you're a terrific Father & she'll come around, Friend.
Every time we drove past the Speedway in the last week [831 times, it seemed], the Little Boy would comment about you being out there. =) Followed by the Big Boy saying that you're so nice....and the Big Girl asking "why?" you wanted to be out there?? LOL
