We Have A Soldier In Our Home

I am proud to announce that W-stepson #3  aka Christian Cole Selby, was sworn in to the US Army.
He leaves for Ft Benning Georgia September 17, 2012.
We are all so proud of him and his commitment.

He is the tall one, center, green shirt

We arrived at the Federal Building at 11am this morning. He was finally sworn in around 3pm. While waiting I was awestruck at the number of soldiers shipping out today and being sworn in to the various branches of the military. What bothered me (don't know if bothered is the right word) is that only maybe one out of ten of the enlistees had anybody there with them. Our son had ten family members there with him, and of the four others that were sworn in at the same time he was, not one had anyone there with them. Was it because they traveled to get here, from a long ways off? Was it that they didn't want anyone there? Was it that their family just didn't care enough to be there? I will ponder that for a few days.

I think that might be the same room I was sworn in. In.

No, that can NOT be Cole...I'm fairly certain he is still a little kid... Ask "W-Spouse". I'm pretty sure the last time I saw him he was a little kid. LITTLE. KID!!! Does he think he's grown up now or something? Agree with Brigid-you should well be proud. How's mommy handling this?

I am so proud of Cole. Maybe some of the families could not be there because they have jobs that they could not get permission to go. I imagine some of them may not have families. Mo

I'm back and forth as to why the others didn't have anyone there. Me, single mom of 3, would be hard pressed to get off work. And if I did, it would just be me there, as we don't have any family here. Also, I know you'll choke on this, but I probably wouldn't think to go, it's not that it's not a big deal, but kinda sorta. Lastly, my son probably wouldn't make a big deal of it wanting me to go. But that's just him. Congrats and glad you were there though. We always envy people with family there to support them!! ;)

Congratulations, best of luck and our prayers are with you all. Serving in our military is the most honorable thing a citizen can do. I never did, but my father did. It made me proud.
