The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.

From The Corner Of My Mind

* It's a spectacularly beautiful morning. The sun is rising in the east, and a wonderful day is ahead.
* W-stepson returned home from M.E.P.S. yesterday with the news that he had been disqualified again. Another waiver was needed to be approved before he could be admitted to the Army. It got approved before the day was over. It looks like he will return to headquarters on Tuesday of next week and choose his job and be sworn in. Congratulations Cole, we are proud of you.
* At the same time, we are so nervous about our child headed to the Army. Possibly headed to war. Possibly carrying a gun and having to defend our country. I dread the day that we board him on a plane for some far away place. Someone might need to help me keep W-spouse from loading on the plane with him. When the reality finally hits her, the flood gates will come. That's her baby boy.
* A couple of the kids that hang around the house are going to the state weightlifting meet to represent Decatur tomorrow in Abilene. One is in the heavyweight division, the other in the lightweight division, Ray Cortez and Dillon Brown respectively. Both are trying to set state records in their divisions. Good luck guys!
* It is looking like I will finally get a whole weekend off. If so, I will just have to go riding in the Jeep tomorrow. As bad as that will bother me, it just needs to be done.
* I have a backhoe set up to remove the tree stumps Sunday after church. Then I will start leveling the backyard and put in sprinklers, then re-sod with St Augustine.
* Update on the tractor issue. I called McMaster and the technician told me to make sure that the quick disconnect hoses were all plugged in, that one could have possibly popped out. When I got home I looked and sure enough, one of the hoses had disconnected. I put it back in and it worked fine. Prayers answered.
* As you know from previous posts, we have started the kitchen renovation. Most of our part is finished and ready for the granite installers. They should arrive the first of next week. When I know the exact time of their arrival I will remove the kitchen sink faucet and food disposal unit. Both will be replaced with new.

Removing the original lighting. You can see the dividing wall in the left of the picture.

The dividing wall from the kitchen area.

The LED lights installed. In this picture you can see the awful blue colored counter tops.

Here I have removed the wall, back to the refrigerator. This wall was installed after the sheet rock and painting had been done, leading me to believe that it was installed after the inside of the house was finished. Possibly an afterthought of the previous owners. You can see the new lights better and also see where the original light was.

Looking into the dining room with wall removed.

Three tiles will have to be replaced. When we moved in, there were extra tiles in the spare closet. I threw them away thinking we would never need them again.

The bar that I built and tiled before destruction.

The bar with tile removed. I will have to remove the top board and then counter top. Granite will also go here. Notice the bib overalls, the most comfortable clothing available.

A few gentle observations..
Now that you dont have the three tiles just replace all the tiles and make her happy
you should have saved the blue tops and sold to Universial studios for a Brady Bunch remake

And when you are done with all this, you can make a giant smoker out of an old propane tank. ;-)

Any existing tiles under the frig, dishwasher or stove thatn can be used, so that it matches? Can always use mismatched tile under those appliances.

Oh now that's a great idea. So how do you get them up without breaking them into a bazillion little pieces?

since it's only money, i think you should take out the tile and replace it with some wood flooring... :) would really offset the granite and look wonderful

Enjoyed seeing all the pics. Flooring store should be able to give you tips on how to remove tiles under frig &/or stove to be reused in between dining room & kitchen. Mo
