The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.

From The Corner Of My Mind

* Been busy busy busy, sorry for not posting the last few days.
* The weather has been great. Humid and overcast, with the sun peaking out now and again.
* Next week they are calling for more rain. Possibly enough, if it rains in the right place, to fill the lake back up to normal levels. It is currently about 6' low.
* Yesterday when I got off work, W-spouse and I pulled the sides and top of the doors off of the Jeep and headed out to the lakehouse to visit my sister and B-law who are in from Iowa this weekend. Madison was also out there, so we wanted to see her also. On the way out there, after you pass the gas plant and cross over the bridge, we came upon a guy out in the field next to what looked like a pickup on its side. There was a golf cart parked there also and upon first arrival, I thought that they had been out in the field playing and had rolled the truck over in a ditch. As we got closer we could see that wasn't the case. The driver of the pickup had failed to maintain speed, or lost control, had fishtailed and went through the fence sliding sideways and the right rear behind the cab had made impact with a telephone/electric pole. Then had spun around and flipped over on its side. The guy in the golf cart was about 1/4 mile away sitting on his back porch and had heard the wreck and drove up to it on his golf cart. When we arrived he had broken out the window with a hammer and was trying to get the injured guy out. W-spouse immediately went in to nurse mode. I immediately went in to fire fighter mode. We made sure 911 had been contacted and she started tending to the driver and I made sure that the vehicle was safe, or if we needed to move further out of harms way. There was gas leaking from the tank, but other than that everything seemed to be safe. We awaited the arrival of the fire department and the ambulance. The driver was incoherent at first, but after 5 minutes or so he started responding to her questions with the right answers. I helped the Medics load the patient in the ambulance (It was good to see Dee and Willie again) and W-spouse and I continued on to the lakehouse.

Scene of the accident

* We visited everyone for an hour or so and made our way to Julios in Chico for supper.
* We wanted to be back home before the sun went down, and it got cooler because we had the windows all out of the Jeep. It was a cool ride home after the delay.
* So, this morning I head to work. I take FM407 to Justin towards the location we are currently on. As I get about 2 miles out of Justin I begin to notice a vehicle ahead with it's flashers on. I start to pass it, because I need to get to work, and then I notice that the guy looks to be in distress. I pull over and realize that this persons vehicle had damage to it. He starts explaining that a truck had swerved over into his lane (verifiable by the point of impact) and the trailer had side swiped him. His pickup wouldn't move and was halfway out in the middle of the road partially blocking it. I turned on my flashers and got behind him to try and slow down approaching vehicles. This was 6:30 am and it was still very dark. I didn't have Denton County SO number, so I called Wise County SO and got the number from them. I explained the situation and they asked me a hundred questions, 99 of which I didn't have the answers for. The guy driving was on the phone with his mother/dad/girlfriend/friend/boss and many others and wouldn't stand there and tell me the answers. Finally the Justin PD showed up and I was able to leave. Oh yeah, the truck that hit him......just kept on going. I was just a few moments behind him and I don't remember meeting a truck. Could it be that the truck stopped and turned off all his lights? He had to have known he hit something. He must have, at the very least, blown a tire on the trailer out. One of the trucking companies will know who it was after daylight. Some driver will come in this morning and say he don't know how that damage happened.
* Two accidents I have come across in less than 12 hours. I hope that is the last one for a while.
* This well we are working on is giving us fits. This is the third trip we have made out of the hole. Hopefully, this will be the last time on this well.
Rednecks With Paychecks is this weekend. If I don't have to work tomorrow, I'm going to try and go out there and watch the mayhem. No Justice will be playing there tomorrow night. I would like to see that, but don't know if I want to hang around till all the drunks start leaving. St Jo, FM 1810 and drunks don't go well together.
* If I have to work, it looks like I will have to miss the race on Sunday and make my way out to the OHV park at Bridgeport.
* Oh yeah.......It's Bristol Weekend. Short track racing at its finest. I would be surprised if a car leaves that track on Sunday without at least a wheel mark on the side.
* Gotta run, see ya Around The Corner!

Both of the accident victims were lucky to have your assistance. You've filled your "good samaritan card" for the month!

Yeah, if I'm ever in an accident I really hope it's you and "W-Spouse" right behind me! I'm glad people still stop, and even more glad they know what to do when they stop! Starting to get a little jealous of your jeep, what great weather!

Was always proud of ya when you were in the volunteer fire department nothing against my firefighter brothers. But I have so much respect for you and your fellow volunteers because of that one word volunteer. Both you and the ole lady are awesome people in my book
