* Yesterday evening the temperature was in the upper 70s. This morning when I walked outside, it was 45.
* And the wind is blowing...again. I guess it's that time of the year.
* I don't have a lot of childhood memories. Why? I don't know. Nothing spectacular happened that I can remember that caused the memories to be erased, I just don't have many memories from when I was maybe 5-14. One thing I do remember was when we traveled from Houston when I was a child, we would go right through downtown Dallas. There was this huge sign/billboard that was a waterfall. Back then, it advertised beer. Pabst, Coors or Shlitz maybe? Back then it seemed spectacular in my mind.
* Another memory was when we would turn on to 380 off of 35 in Denton, it would seem like it took 2 hours to get to Decatur. Then you would see the lights of the courthouse (usually at Christmas time) and it looked like it was many miles away.
* When I was 10-12 years old I would ride a Greyhound bus from Houston to Decatur. Alone. No one in their right mind would allow a child to do that in 2012.
* I couldn't wait for school to be out in the summer so that I could head to Bridgeport or Nacogdoches to my grandparents house.
* Those things, I do remember.
* If you haven't seen the wreck that Danica Patrick had yesterday during the 1st Gatorade Dual race. Then click here. She took a hit that she will feel for the rest of the week.
* I can't stress just how great NASCAR and the NASCAR tracks are for installing the safer barriers around all the tracks, and for the technology that goes into building a car that can be crashed head on into a wall at over 190 mph and the driver get out and walk away.
* I'm pretty sure there are grammatical errors in that last sentence.
* Well folks. It's here. NASCAR is back. Starting with the NCWTS racing tonight. NNS racing tomorrow and the Sprint Cup series hits the track Sunday for the Daytona 500. The biggest race of the year.
* I don't guess I need to tell you what I will be doing all weekend.
* Have a great weekend and tune into NASCAR, see ya Around The Corner!

The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.
Some people get spiritual because they see the light and some people get spiritual because they feel the heat!

trippin down memory lane... i always had such a hard time remembering things from my childhood... and mostly i still do... but there are things that stand out here and there... little snippets of stuff that happened or that was important to me even if i didn't realize it then :)
those drives as a kid... man it seemed like things took forever! i remember driving to Waller from Houston... it was the death of me for sure!
no comments about the NO SMOKING in the stands?...Winston Cup?? sounds funny... Smoking only allowed in designated areas.
Actually, I haven't heard about that. Do tell or send me the link.
In 1980, when we moved here we missed our grand-daughter so much we had her flown down for a week from Minnesota by herself she was 5 years old and your right no way in hell would I do something like that now. It is to the point in our family in Missouri that I am the oldest one living now and constantly have people sending me notes do you know this or that, do you remember this things change in a hurry, it is unreal to know that you are oldest one living in your mom's entire family they call me the Matriarch. LOL Just a little reminisceing

What were the "Duals" about yesterday?
MJ, it allows some of the drivers to bump others out that don't speed qualify or don't get in on provisionals, such as past champion provisional. I don't know all the rules about it, but that's close.
The waterfall you reference is/was at the 'intersection' of I-35E and the Dallas Tollway, next to Baby Doe's Matchless Mine steakhouse (my fianceƩ and I had NYE dinner '81 or '82 there).
Way back in the day it was Pearl, but more recently it has been Coors:

Growing up in Irving, it was always a landmark I'd look for when we'd go to downtown Dallas or Fair Park.
My head is chock full of childhood memories. And I'm so glad...
