Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life, but define yourself. Harvey S. Firestone

The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.

Some people get spiritual because they see the light and some people get spiritual because they feel the heat!

How do you know if you're truly a servant? See how you react the next time someone treats you like one.

From The Corner Of My Mind

* Rain is in the forecast again today. It has already rained on me this morning.
* Yesterday while shopping at Academy over in the Watauga area, I went into the men's clothing section to look for some sort of warm head gear to cover my bald spot. A gentleman walked up to me and said  "Do you have a W in your name"? At first it didn't dawn on me. W-spouse, W-mom, W-kids and so on. I answered yes, my first and last names begin with W. He then introduced himself as The Donald. It was my pleasure to finally meet him. His blog was added to my blog roll on the first day. I had followed his blog for a while, don't remember how long, but for a long time. I enjoy his thoughts and hearing of his stories of sleeping outside with his young daughter under the stars and just talking the night away till you fall asleep. I enjoy these posts, somehow dreaming of once again having the chance to do that with my own daughters, and knowing at the same time that the possibility of that doesn't exist. I have two grand daughters that I plan on sharing this with in the future. His knowledge of guns far surpasses mine by a long shot, even though I have been around guns and shooting them all my life. His faith in our Lord is strong, and his posts from his church reflects that. Donald, If you ever get a chance, we would love to have you come visit Central Fellowship sometime if you don't mind the drive up to Wise County. Your knowledge would be a great contribution to our Bible class. Thanks for sticking that hand out and making the effort to speak to me.
* Some people don't like meeting people or acquaintances that they only know via the Internet. I can understand that. There are some people out there that ARE NOT the same in person as they are behind the keyboard. It has been my experience (so far) to not only have met lots of people that I have come to know through chat rooms or blogs, but to make friends with many of them. Only a few would I have been scared to have "introduced them to mom". Some of them have become life time friends and I see them regularly or at the very least text with them from time to time.
* I read this quote this morning in my daily devotional. "If leaders have no higher authority for their laws, they will inevitably change them to benefit themselves." It was in reference to the death of Kim Jong II. Then this was asked. "Is the same true for you and me? If we do not make God our King and submit to the authority of his word, will we rule ourselves? How's that working for our people and planet?"
* We had Christmas with W-mom and Harold on Saturday night. We started with dinner at Julios in Chico Tx, then went to their house and exchanged gifts. Papa Harold must have hit it big out in Vegas last week, because he and mom were very generous with the envelopes!
* Every year W-mom sews a quilt to give away. We draw names and if you have won one already your name is excluded from the pot. Last year my sister won. This year my youngest daughter and her husband won it.
* My youngest daughters husband had a family member (step grand father) pass away yesterday unexpectedly. Please keep them in your prayers. Funeral arrangements are pending.
* We went to Ava Gs baby dedication Sunday morning at Sycamore Baptist church. There were probably 25 people or more there in support of her. Her life for Christ will start with all of us and we need to start NOW.
*After worshiping at Central Fellowship for nearly three years now, it felt strange being back in the type of Church (strong Southern Baptist) that I grew up in. We picked up a Hymnal and sang from it. No big projector screens to look at while singing. It was the same pattern that I followed 50 years ago. Welcoming and announcements, stand up sing a song, prayer, sit down and sing a song, prayer and stand up to sing a song, prayer and pass the offering plate. Then the message, prayer and stand up and sing a song for the invitation. There is nothing wrong with any of that, and many a person has been compelled to walk forward and give their life to Christ during these invitations. It just brought back a flood of memories for me, some good, some funny and some that I care not to share.
* This morning on the drive over I was listening to 94.9. There was a family that were down on their luck this past year. A young couple that needed their car fixed. The didn't have much money for Christmas, and the husband was temporarily disabled due to an injury. Their heater didn't work in their vehicle and when they went to church, they did so wrapped in blankets. Them and their children. When they got to church they would put the blankets in trash bags and place them inside the door of the church so they would be warm for the ride home. This couple also gives their time to a ministry for needy kids. They wash their feet and give them shoes, mimicking what was done for Jesus. 94.9 and others repaired their car, gave them $3500 in cash for bills and Christmas, and donated $500 to the ministry in their name. I was in tears.
* I thank God daily for Central Fellowship Church and for Whitney and Cole going there and patiently waiting for me to get the nerve and confidence to start going back to a church. I thank God that the members of this Church accepted me and my family for who we are and not for what we stand for in the community. AMEN
* I am one of those people that when I text or type the contents of this blog. I usually hit the send button and don't proofread to see what it says or just how silly or stupid it might sound. And inevitably I will use your, you're, and you are in the wrong way. Does it really matter? I saw a post on Twitter this weekend that stated "If you want to see how many followers you have. Make a typo". The same holds true with blogging.
* I also love using exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It drives Jarhead nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
* W-spouse and I both purchased these pillows
* I got one of these with my Christmas money. I paired it with both my phone and IPad. I liked it better with the IPad.
* Cabellas butter flavored Pretzels are great.
*Gotta run, see ya Around The Corner!

I wish I could find a traditional Southern Baptist Church.
None around here. Good to know they still exist.

I clicked on the "Jarhead nuts!!!!!!" link expecting to see... well, a picture of my nuts.

So disappoint...

Don't worry my friend. I'm really bad at using ellipses (the three periods after a sentence) so none of us are perfect...

It probably would have surprised me less to run into the Pied Piper blogger at that Academy, as I think he's only a mile or so from it.

BTW, Jar-Jar, none of us is perfect. You know, subject-verb agreement...just sayin'.
