I have a few readers that have lived out on the west coast where earthquakes are common. I also see on my site counter where I get a few hits from the west coast.
With the breaking news this morning I thought I would ask my readers if you have ever felt or been in an earthquake.
Me......Not that I'm aware of.

The people with whom you work reflect your own attitude. If you are suspicious, unfriendly and condescending, you will find these unlovely traits echoed all about you. But if you are on your best behavior, you will bring out the best in persons with whom you are going to spend most of your waking hours.

i have...when in lived in Los Angeles... and it's very surreal!
the ground just isn't supposed to move!
i lived through the Northridge earthquake... lost a few friends when their apartment building collapsed... to see the devastation up close and personal is breath-taking ... not in a good way
Yes. One in Lubbock and one in Salt Lake City.
We were 2 miles from the center of the Northridge quake which was a 6.7. Lasted 45 seconds. Major quake, with major damage scattered around the area. We had a little square stucco house that had a couple cracks in the stucco and roof, but no major damage. Crap flew off walls and shelves etc. but we faired well. Ab out the time we realized it was a big one, it was over. Now, this one it Japan is beyond major. Can not comprehend the size.
In general, I was never worried about them, and when small ones would hit we made a game out of guessing size and where the were centered. Still rather dal with them than tornados hitting the house. EQ you have no warning, then its done. No time to worry and fret. And when over, all your stuff is in one pile, not blown into the next state
I have....I was in California (years ago) on business and woke up in the middle of the night to my hotel furniture moving across the room. I thought someone was in my room shaking me. I tried to call the front desk, phone lines dead. It stopped. About 5-10 minutes later a small ripple through the room and that was it. I was on the 18th (or so) floor. No damage. Scared me big time!!! This southern girl didn't like it a bit!
Born and raise in SE Missouri have felt quite a few tremors some so bad that knocked dishes out of cupboards and cracked walls, sine I lived right on the New Madrid fault.
When I was a kid, we lived in Japan for 2 years because my Dad was assigned there by the Army. As a third grader, not being able to walk because the ground was shaking, was a little scary. But, there was so many that I got used to it after a while. The fear was gone and I would just wait until the shaking stopped so I could walk again.
Small ones in CA, just more of a curiosity than a threat.
True story I was in the hospital in bridgeport in October and my room was on the second floor. I had my breakfast tray in front of me and I noticed my bed shook a little and my water bottle was moving around. I thought at first that they had me on some GREAT drugs and then I said something to my dad and he saw the bottle moving and felt it in the floor also. Apparently the epicenter was around Norman, OK and it was I believe around a 4.5 which is pretty small.
