From The Corner Of My Mind

* 60 degrees out this morning. Wind gusting to 35 mph. Feels more like 30 outside.
* It was a beautiful weekend. We went boat riding with some friends in their new boat on Saturday, watched the race on Sunday and attended an Oscar party on Sunday night.
* Oscar party: Food was wonderful. The host and hostess were very gracious. We got to walk the Red Carpet and even had private parking. We met some new friends and watched most of the Oscars before heading home early.
* I haven't tasted any finer foods than we had last night in a long time. The Chefs talents were creative and magnificent. W-spouse and I gave the stuffed mushrooms 10 stars on a 1-5 scale. My second place goes to the Chinese meatballs. Marvelous, just marvelous.
* Thanks so much for the invite. We had an enjoyable time and hope we get to do it again soon.
* The Oscars: I'm a little dissapointed that True Grit wasn't better represented and what's up with the Kings Speech getting best picture? From what I have read and heard, that award should have went to Inception or True Grit. I haven't watched The Kings Speech yet, so I couldn't give and honest opinion.
* Enough of that baloney. Did you get to watch NASCAR on Sunday? What a wasted race. Anytime Jeff Gordon wins, or his name is even mentioned in a broadcast, it lowers the standard of NASCAR.
* Tony Stewart finished in the 7th spot.
* Kyle Busch won the Truck Series and the Nationwide series races and was one place away from winning the Sprint Cup race. Something that has only been done once before. Only by him last year.
* There was a wreck around lap 67 that equaled anything that you might see at Daytona or Talledega. 15 cars were involved with most having to go behind the wall for repairs. A few of them made it back out and even finished in the top 20.
* I also went to the Swap Meet in Decatur on Saturday. I love to look at all the old cars and trucks. I ended up buying some welding clamps and a few other tools. I didn't find any wheels for the welding trailer and only one set of hub caps that were priced to high.
* I need a set of nice wheels. They are 4 1/2" spacing with a 2 3/4" center hole. More commonly known as an old Ford wheel. Or a nice set of hub caps.
* Time to do some work. Have a great day and see ya Around The Corner!

Honey, the Oscar should have gone to, NOT went to! Sheez, you're wearing me out spunky. Anyway, the party was fun, always good to meet new people, Kathleen and her family rock! She should have gotten the "Hostess with the mostest" award.
What's up with the wind? Santa Ana winds, El Nino...what? Totally impossible to have a good hair day.
So, I took my truck to the shop at James Woods early this morning. As I was describing to the service writer what it was doing I could see the look...you know the one when you describe to your husband what another woman was wearing in detail and he looks like he's in a coma. I asked him, do you speek woman? He grinned and said let me get someone to ride with you. Problem solved, the truck did the talking. Just for the record, I was right, it's a wobble, not a vibration.
Have a great day!

My kind of NASCAR race!
Every man for himself; none of that buddy-buddy stuff. It was dog eat dog, bumping out of the way instead of co-op drafting.
Even though I pull for " Smoke" I am happy with Jeff Gordon.

Don't hate Jeff Gordon, just because he wins, it has been a long while, so give the grizzled veteran his due. I understand you like Stewart, whose cars is he driving now? Oh yeah, Hendrick who is partially owned by Gordon. Jimmy Johnson fans dislike Gordon? Well he is his car owner, so all those Championships are partially shared by car owner, Gordon. He may whine a little from time to time, but he still dishes out punishment to the folks who need it, and can drive it like he stole it.

I'm not hating on Gordon because he's a winner. I hate on him because he's a douchebag and a whiner. Not to mention how he treated his first wife, and standing their on camera praising the Lord this and praising the Lord that, all the while screwing another woman. Now I'm not standing in judgement of him either. It's just while he was winning and he had everyone wrapped around his little finger, he wasn't the straight up guy he was making himself out to be.
When he fesses up for his actions, then I MIGHT have a change of heart. Until then.......I'm going to hate him.

We LOVED having the Corners over! W-Spouse is a lovely woman, and the Big Girl commented, "I thought Mr. [Corner] was a sweet Grandpa-type -- he doesn't look old at all!" <-- I thought you'd get a big kick outta that! ;-)

Oh, and I laughed out loud today thinking of you & Bueno giving Inception those standing ovations!!

The food was great and I getting to visit with you. I'll definitely show up again for the next food, I mean Oscar party.

I did think True Grit got robbed. I heard there was some ideas that voting for it would cast a shadow on John Wayne winning his award back in the day. I thought it would have been validation that it was a great movie.
