From The Corner Of My Mind

* 13 degrees in Decatur. Wind howling at 25-30 mph. Light sleet right now, with snow possible.
* Most of the moisture seems to have went to the North of us.
* I am at home right now in a holding pattern. I got a call from the rig operator this morning telling me to wait a while before I left. So here I set!
* W-spouse was up and down all night. She couldn't get comfortable. Me thinks shes going Stir Crazy!
* The Skywarn system just sent an email and called saying that the Decatur schools are going to be delayed for 2 hours.
* When I was in school, we called it a Party Line.
* You get some strange hits when you Google "party line".
* Just got a text saying that Decatur is closed, not official yet........hmmmm. Channel 5 still says delayed.
* I know very little about being Catholic, so your thoughts please?
* Had to put W-stepsons Dodge in the shop again yesterday. The IAC idle motor was sticking. I don't have a clue what the heck that is, but it costs $193.57 to replace it.
* I have the coolest IPhone. It just went to work for me, walked right out the door, got in the truck and left. It told me to just stay at home today. Not really.......but that would be a cool phone.
* I just heard the ambulance going south on 287. Those guys/girls have to work no matter what the conditions are.
* I think I'm going to go back to bed for a while. Probably won't go to sleep, but it's a good thought.
* Might try to update more later. See ya Around The Corner!

* EDIT: I am now on location near Ponder. It was 9 degrees when I crossed Denton Creekon 380. It is 13 here on location. Sleeting and snowing heavily. Visibility is about 1/4 mile. Wind is blowing hard, it was brutal just stepping out to get a cup of coffee. I can just imagine what it's going to be out working.
* As I was leaving, we just recieved an email and a phone call from Skywarn stating that they had closed schools in Decatur.
* I can't remember a time in the recent past that a Winter sucked this bad.

i'm catholic....

receiving the sacrament of confession is a very holy thing....

taking it out of the confessional in the presence of a priest just doesn't seem right at all....

part of confession is receiving not only pennance(sp) but also guidance from the church....

stay warm! we are icing over here in austin now... ugh!

"this app invites Catholics to prayerfully prepare for and participate in the Rite of Penance."

I don't think the app is bad. It DOES NOT replace confession, it only helps you in confession. Not a bad thing for those that haven't been in years.

I don't know much about Catholicism, the history and customs/traditions are intrigueing. In my early adult days of being saved I went to what most would refer to as a "holy roller" church where the focus was on "the word" as it should be, but "rituals" not so much. As a christian one of the most important rituals we partake in is communion, and surprise, we aren't the only ones who do! We have to be careful not to have a righteous attitude about our faith. Christian or not, history, customs/traditions are important, they help us better understand our faith and apply it to our daily lives.
P.S. On a purely superficial level, crosses are cool, to decorate with, wear - such as James Avery ;-), or pray with - rosary beads.

I grew up Catholic, baptized as an infant and went to Catholic school for 10 years. Moved away from religion after high school and lived a decent life I think. About 15 years ago I started going to church. Not to long after that I was baptized. The way the bible reads is that if you believe in Christ that you should confess that you are a sinner, that you believe that Jesus is the son of God and then follow in baptism. You have made a conscious decision as an adult to accept Christ.

The Catholic tradition you are baptized as an infant without a conscious decision. The concept of praying the dead in to heaven from purgatory, purgatory itself and the elevation of the Virgin Mary almost to the level of Christ himself, don't seem to be in the Bible per say. The seem to be customs that were started by the roman emperor Constantine when he converted.

I'm no theologian. I'm not trying to start a blogger war here people. Christians are Christians everywhere. Baptist, Catholic, Methodist or Episcopalian.....whatever.

If you believe that then why bother posting all that crap?
